It provides an overview of 20th century research, its origins, early era (1947-1972), and “modern” era, with links to biographies of early investigators, abstracts of early studies with references to key sources, and oral histories from pioneers and early leaders in the field. It also provides editorial essays, with narrative and perspective about a variety of studies, methods, institutions, events, historic reports, and risk factor findings. Finally, the multimedia section contains historic photographs, film and videos, audio clips, and letters and documents .
