Sugar Information, Inc., was the division of the Sugar Association that focused on public education and communication. The Sugar Research Foundation, the other division, developed and supported basic and applied scientific research. The Sugar Association, founded by members of the U.S. cane and beet sugar industry, began in 1943 as the Sugar Research Foundation, which was dedicated to the scientific study of sugar’s role in food and communication of that role to the public. The organization changed its name to the Sugar Association in 1947.
